ABOUT ME
I have over 30 years experience working in a range of NHS adult mental health services and Independent Practice. I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (the regulatory body for psychologists in the UK (www.hcpc-uk.org) I am an active member of my national professional organisation the Association of Clinical Psychologists-UK (acpuk.org.uk), and past-chair of the Complex Mental Health Network. I am also a member of the European Society for Trauma and Dissociation-UK (ESTD UK | Complex Traumatic Dissociation)
As a clinical psychologist I have core training and experience in a range of evidence-based psychological therapies, but have particular expertise in psychodynamic and attachment-informed approaches. I am a registered Mentalization-Based Therapy Practitioner (MBT) [Homepage - British Psychoanalytic Council (bpc.org.uk)] and accredited MBT supervisor with the Anna Freud Centre, London [MBT Supervisors (annafreud.org)]. I am completing further training at the Bowlby Centre, London (Psychotherapy - The John Bowlby Centre Psychotherapy Training (thebowlbycentre.org.uk) as an Attachment-Informed Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist (Pre-Registration).
I have held clinical and managerial leadership positions for psychological services in the NHS and have extensive experience supervising and training other professionals.
I remain passionate about the importance of psychological support for those experiencing mental health difficulties and distress. Feeling alone in distress compounds and exacerbates those feelings, and can make it harder to find a way forward. Hope and one's innate capacity to heal can be rediscovered within a compassionate, thoughtful, respectful therapeutic relationship; a relationship where psychological safety can grow, to explore, understand and discover new ways forward.
